Rafael Manzano Martos, cotitular architect of the restoration of San Pelayo’s Monastery, has received the 2017 Philippe Rotthier Architecture Prize in the category of “L’eau et le sacré”, for the works of the headquarters of the Grupo Siro Foundation.

The jury has valued the special respect and use of the ten natural underground springs that run through the site of the Monastery of San Pelayo de Cerrato, in Cevico Navero (Palencia), and its integration in the reconstruction of the architectural work.

Since its first edition in 1982, the three-year award Philippe Rotthier rewards architectures that have managed to mix the history and culture of the place, with the current needs of the project, highlighting the heritage value of the region and its historical legacy.
